As a family who loves to travel, we have worked hard to re-create the luxury we enjoy as a couple on romantic getaway with all the facilities and little extras we need with the kids on a family getaway for our guests.

Enjoy your getaway in this large family holiday home, close to Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands but set on acreage so you can get back to nature and recharge. Multiple outdoor areas and breakaway spaces ensures the whole family can enjoy their own space while on holidays together.
Take a dip in the sparkling pool, crank up the pizza oven, roast marshmallows on the fire pit or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of a spectacular sunset. Sunset Retreat is in a beautiful rural location on 2.5 acers overlooking Ruddell Dam, the ranges and fields.
Everyone can spread out and relax by the pool or on the deck keeping an eye on the kids safe in the knowledge there is a fully enclosed yards and no busy roads.
Five bedrooms, spacious open plan living, sparkling in-ground pool, front deck plus the back-breeze deck all on one level so indoor/ outdoor flow is seamless. Sunset Retreat can comfortably sleep eight guests making it the perfect space to unwind with family or close friends.
Enjoy a chat and a cool drink in the afternoon while the kids run off a little steam. The pool has built in seating and a small kid’s ledge that run’s the perimeter for those still not totally confident in the water.
A gradual beach style entry is the perfect spot for toddlers to splash about and the built-in seating is simply crying out for Mum to sit down and just relax.
We are close to Airlie Beach and the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and yet far enough from town that you are assured privacy and peace and quiet.

Sunset Retreat offers five spacious bedrooms and multiple entertainment areas so everyone can spread out and relax. Larger family groups can relax knowing the kids have a fully enclosed front yard that is overlooked by the pool deck. Complete with an outdoor drinks fridge, ten seat table, high bar and outdoor TV so you can enjoy the cricket.
Did someone says cold drinks on the pool deck while the little one’s burn off a little energy? The sparkling in-ground pool with built in seating and gradual beach style entry is great for the little ones as is the child’s safety ledge that run’s the perimeter for those still not totally confident in the water.
We are close to Airlie Beach and the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands, yet in a quiet acreage setting so you are assured privacy and peace and quiet. As the sun sets head out to the back breeze deck and fire up the wood fired pizza oven. Everyone will love making their own creations and there is plenty of space for everyone to kick back and enjoy the evening. Why not finish off out by the fire pit?
Located in an acreage estate cul de sac, the area is made up predominately of families which gives a sense of freedom for the kids to ride their bikes, kick a footy or climb a tree. Wildlife is usually literally at your doorstep, do not be surprised to see wallabies and kangaroo’s grazing on the lawn and green tree frogs perched on the rock beds.
There are of course the iconic gecko’s that squeak and mooch about the place and the wag tails that often nest in the surrounding trees. Once a year we have the influx of “soldier ducks” that dutifully line up at the end of the street and pick and peck worms and small insects across the property from early morning till they then fly en-mass back down to the dam to roost.
There is also Windemere’s resident Goose “Timmy” who will give you a friendly honk if you wander down to his small dam and an even more enthusiastic one if you take him some fruit or veggies scraps.
As the sun sets, head out to the back-breeze deck and fire up the wood fired pizza oven. Everyone will love making their own creations and there is plenty of space for everyone to kick back and enjoy the evening.
Why not finish off at the fire pit? This sculpted oasis is great for a quiet glass of Red and even the big kids can enjoy toasting up a marshmallow or two watching the moon rise and then reflect off the water.
If you plan to bring your boat there is plenty of room to park on the property and be sure to take advantage of the Barramundi fishing at Peter Faust Dam or launch at one of three boat ramps nearby.
The kids and adults alike will love their stay at Sunset Retreat, you owe it to yourself to book your next getaway.
Sunset Retreat is a large and spacious family holiday home, close to Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands. There are five bedrooms with three King Beds, single bunks with additional single floor trundle plus two more singles in the children’s TV area that can be converted into a Queen and a double fold sofa bed and porter cot.

There is also additional room in the master bedroom and open space robe for a portable cot allowing privacy in the Nursery for additional children / adults.

“The house is spectacular, we could not be happier with our stay at Sunset Retreat. We stayed as a group of 8 and the house itself is very big with lots of personal home touches, the couch is incredible for lazy days watching Netflix or Foxtel, beautiful big comfy beds, lots of crafts / toys for kids, kitchen is something else and the wood fired pizza with herb garden is excellent. The pool overlooking the valley and dam is incredible. It’s a 10 min drive into Airlie but we much preferred this location to being right in town, very tranquil location.”

This place has it all. Big house to accommodate large groups. Wonderful entertaining areas on a large block with a beautiful pool. Not too far out from Airlie Beach. Very child friendly with plenty of toys, games, books and more. Mel And family were extremely helpful when we needed it. Would highly recommend this place. Hope to be back soon.

Words and pictures don’t do this holiday home justice. It simply needs to be experienced! Mel has thought of everything from views from the shower and master bedroom to an entire cupboard of arts and crafts. My partner and I enjoyed three fabulous nights of tranquillity, checking out the mainland, hiking the national parks, dining by the Marina and enjoying movies on the most amazing lounge. Highly recommend as a private resort!”
